The Project Ends. The Music Begins.
Some journeys don’t end. They transform.
When the MOTIVE Project – Merging Original Traditions Into New Voices of Europe – launched, it carried a simple but ambitious idea: that musicians from three different countries, three different cultures, three different musical traditions, could come together and create something that none of them could have created alone.
Today, as March draws to a close, the project officially ends. But what it set in motion does not.
Three countries. One conversation.
Over the course of the project, musicians and cultural operators from Italy, Poland and Lithuania crossed borders – literally and creatively. They met in clasrooms, rehearsal studios and on stage. They listened to each other’s folk songs and classical influences. They argued about rhythm and agreed on melody. They discovered that a musical tradition rooted in the streets of Calabria and a folk song from the Lithuanian countryside could, in the right hands, become the foundation for something entirely new.
The collaboration between our partner organisations – Società Beethoven ACAM, Nida Tourist Information Centre and CRAVE Music Agency – was never just administrative. It was creative, personal and at times beautifully unpredictable. That is exactly what European cultural cooperation should feel like.
What comes next: the MOTIVE Collective
The artists who participated in this project did not simply complete a programme. They formed something. Under the name of the MOTIVE Collective, they will continue to share what they created together – original music born from three traditions, three languages and one shared belief that music knows no borders.
Very soon, we will be publishing the recordings, videos and stories that emerged from this process. Music that carries the fingerprints of Italy, Poland and Lithuania all at once. Music that is, in the truest sense, European.
A thank you
To every musician who brought their talent, vulnerability and creativity to this project – thank you! You were the project.
To our partners at Società Beethoven A.C.A.M, Nida Tourist Information Centre and CRAVE Music Agency – thank you for a collaboration that went far beyond what any grant agreement could require.
To the mentors, audiences, institutions and supporters who followed us along the way – during the final concert, online and behind the scenes – thank you for believing that this kind of work matters.
To EACEA and the Creative Europe programme – thank you for your trust and for supporting the idea that culture connects people across borders.
Stay with us.
The best part is just beginning. Follow the MOTIVE Project on social media and visit this website regularly – the MOTIVE Collective has more to share very soon. 🎵
